When applications open

F1 early-careers windows are short and early, and each team keeps its own calendar. Roughly, through the year:

  1. Summer to November

    Industrial placements and graduate schemes

    The main season, and it keeps moving earlier. Williams now opens its placement and graduate roles in summer, keeps each one open for about two weeks and closes them at noon UK time. Mercedes opens technical and operational placements in September and business placements in November, and its graduate roles open in stages through the year.

  2. December to February

    Apprenticeships and work experience

    Three-year apprenticeships starting in September open over the winter: Williams in December, Mercedes around February. Neither team sponsors visas for apprenticeships.

  3. Around March

    Masters and PhD academies

    The Ferrari F1 Engineering Academy, a six-month programme for MSc and PhD students, has closed its applications at the end of March, with an autumn start.

  4. May to August

    Diversity programmes and scholarships

    Diversity programmes tend to run their applications in late spring. The F1 Engineering Scholarship opens at each partner university separately, often in August.

Experienced roles are open all year. Some windows last only about two weeks, so the calendar above is the safest way not to miss one.
